The 2016–2023 Tacoma has several distinct lift-system paths
Current manufacturer applications for the 2016–2023 Tacoma range from 2-inch coil-over systems to 6-inch bracket-style lifts. Some products also span earlier Tacoma years, but the third-generation truck still needs its own checks for 5-lug vs 6-lug configuration, TRD Pro and T/X Baja exclusions, drivetrain and wheel requirements.
The important point is that “fits 2016–2023 Tacoma” does not mean every trim or wheel setup is covered. Current options from BDS, Rough Country, ReadyLIFT and Zone Offroad systems with materially different installation and wheel/tire requirements.

5-lug, 6-lug and trim exclusions come before lift height
Several current Rough Country Tacoma systems explicitly exclude 5-lug trucks, TRD Pro and T/X Baja. ReadyLIFT’s 44-5660 is also a 6-lug-only application and excludes TRD Pro, TX Baja and XSP-X. Those restrictions can remove a product before advertised height, shock brand or price becomes relevant.

Wheel requirements change substantially at 4 and 6 inches
Rough Country’s current 4-inch 75720 product page states that factory wheel backspacing/offset can contact the supplied knuckles, so aftermarket wheels are required. ReadyLIFT’s 6-inch 44-5660 requires at least an 18-inch wheel and publishes 35-inch tire examples on 18×9 wheels at +12, 0 and -18 mm offsets.

Installation scope also changes with system architecture
The current Rough Country 3- and 3.5-inch product pages list cutting as required, while the 4-inch 75720 publishes both cutting and drilling. Larger systems from other brands use their own crossmember, suspension and shock arrangements. Compare the installation notes for the exact product rather than assuming every third-generation Tacoma lift at the same height requires the same work.
